My “Low cost things to do” week
Well, it’s Race Week in Galway and no summer camps running the east side of the city, so have my 2 daughters and friend’s daughter to look after this week.
Have decided to see how low cost I can make this week, using our Free Things to Do article as a good starting point.
Today I had planned to head for the beach, but unfortunately the rain has put a kaibosh (sp?) on that plan, so resorted to a visit to Oranmore Library today.
We spent a good hour in the library. I read the paper and a magazine. Youngest daughter coloured two pictures and did some puzzles. Oldest daughter and friend used the library computer to look up books they were interested in (one wanted to look up “owls”, the other “Romeo and Juliet”) and I then showed them how the numbering system works (Dewey decimal system, I believe) for non-fiction books.
This afternoon we’ll do some art at the dining table, and perhaps as a last resort, a DVD later.
Will keep you posted on how I get on this week!

Stop Motion animation (think Wallace & Gromit) is a great way to keep your kids busy. IKitmovie is a cool software program designed specifically for kids 7 to 14. It makes animation very easy. Google iKitMovie for some great ideas.
